Admissions Counselor and Inclusive Recruitment Coordinator

The Admissions Counselor/Inclusive Recruitment Coordinator actively works to enroll diverse prospective students at Luther College via in-person and virtual synchronous and asynchronous recruitment interactions. This position is responsible for meeting yearly application, acceptance, and deposit goals, as well as assisting the Director of Admissions and Vice President for Enrollment Management in enhancing Luther’s efforts to enroll more students from historically marginalized backgrounds.

Duties and responsibilities include:

  • Directly managing an assigned recruitment territory, conducting frequent fall and spring overnight recruitment travel, presenting admissions and financial aid sessions on and off campus, assisting with equity, diversity, and inclusion guidance for enrollment management staff
  • Assisting the Director of Enrollment and VP for Enrollment Management with implementing recruitment strategies for enrolling a more diverse student body, maintaining close communication with students and parents
  • Serving on campus-wide committees
  •  Nurturing relationships with alumni from diverse backgrounds
  •  Using and updating relevant databases
  •  Evaluating applications for admission and scholarship consideration
  •  Assisting with on and off-campus recruitment events
  •  Other duties as assigned by the Director of Admissions

 Must be willing to work occasional evenings and weekends for scheduled group events and rotating Saturday office coverage.

SUPERVISORY RESPONSIBILITIES: • No anticipated supervisory experience of full-time exempt or non-exempt employees. May have functional supervisory responsibilities over student work study employees.

  • Bachelor’s degree in any major required
  • One year of prior full-time experience in sales, marketing, communication, counseling, or education is preferred but not required
  • Prior undergraduate work experience at a private liberal arts college is preferred but not required
  • Fluency in Spanish is highly desirable. Must have strong communication, teamwork, technology and organizational skills 
  • Ability to cultivate and develop inclusive and equitable working relationships with students, faculty, staff, alumni, parents, and friends of the college

This position requires traveling on a regular basis throughout the year. Must be able to lift and transport admissions recruitment material weighing up to 25 lbs. When in the office: sedentary work. Sitting, standing, and walking in well-lighted and well-ventilated office.
