The Social Media Specialist is responsible for managing, creating and publishing relevant, original and high quality social media content for the main Luther College accounts in line with the overall marketing strategy. This position will be responsible for assisting in the creation and implementation of critical marketing campaigns and brand strategies to build brand awareness and increasing public reach for Luther College. This position works collaboratively with other departments and offices across the campus to develop, edit and deploy content from Luther College and its personnel to the public through social media platforms

Manage the creation and publishing of content for Luther College through social media in tandem with agency recommendations and brand strategy.

Develop a strategic content calendar within Luther College, consulting necessary stakeholders, ensuring a variety of relevant content to social media followers.

• Execute and test social media campaigns and brand strategies to build brand awareness for Luther College and deliver on established goals and Key Performance Indicators (KPI).
• Oversee day-to-day management of campaigns, ensuring brand consistency and frequently publishing Luther College related news, events and information.
• Play a key role in the implementation of the social media policies campus-wide, execute actions to align and clean-up current social activities not within those policies, and continually work to enforce that policy on a day-to-day basis.
• With oversight and support from the Director of Marketing and Public Relations, coordinate social media staff across campus (marketing, athletics, music, admissions, alumni), ensuring consistency in procedures and brand voice.
• Provide basic training and consult on social media best practices for staff, faculty, students, alumni and others as needed.
• Monitor the public's feedback and take appropriate action steps, when necessary (i.e. request for contact from college personnel, negative remarks, re-sharing positive experiences).
• Utilize social analytics tools to monitor key (KPls), and report on established, measurable metrics to track trends and identify opportunities for improvement. Make specific recommendations on strategic shifts based on the data.
• Prepare reports based on social media and web analytics to assess and guide social media strategies.
• Manage the design of posts, photos, links and videos for cohesiveness on all platforms.
• Manage student workers to help create original social content, ensuring consistent brand voice and content in line with overall brand.
• Coordinate the development, implementation, and measurement of social media ad campaigns to advance Luther Marketing efforts in areas such as expanding brand awareness, nurturing prospective students through the enrollment funnel, encouraging giving behavior in our alumni/donor community, and increasing engagement in key college events (e.g. annual Giving Day).

• Bachelor's degree in marketing, communications, public relations or related field.
• Possess in-depth knowledge and understanding of all major social media platforms.
• Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
• Experience running social media on behalf of a brand.
• Experience running social media ads.
• Proficient computer skills.
• Strong technical understanding with ability to pick up new tools quickly.
• Highly motivated and creative with a passion for connecting current students, prospective students and parents, alumni, friends of Luther College, and the Decorah community.
• Ability to think strategically and make decisions/recommendations that map back to organizational priorities and established strategies. e Strong time management skills with ability to oversee multiple social media campaigns and accounts.
• Experience with social media management tools such as Sprout Social.
• Strong written and oral communication skills.
• Self-starter with a drive to take on new initiatives and projects.
• Willing to work occasional weekend hours in conjunction with special events.
• Photography and design skills strongly desired.
• 2-3 years of social media marketing experience, preferred
