The Custodial Weekend Shift Float supports weekend custodial staff in both academic and residential buildings.

The custodial staff assists in maintaining building appearance which consists of all areas including lobbies, entrances, classrooms, offices, hallways, breakrooms, auditoriums, conference rooms, staircases, study lounges, restrooms and shower rooms.

Hours will be Thursday and Friday noon to 6:30pm with a 30 minute lunch break and 6am-3:30pm Saturday Sunday with a half hour lunch break.

Duties will consist of but not limited to

• Unlock/lock building and turn on/off lights 
• Sweep 
• Mop
• Vacuum
• Empty trash receptacles and dispose of trash 
• Clean glass 
• Dust surface areas 
• Disinfect fixtures 
• Assist with set-ups for campus events 
• Snow removal
• Maintain outside entrances year round 
• Minor maintenance (change light bulbs, etc.) 
• Recycling 
• Help in maintaining grounds 
• Other duties as assigned

QUALIFICATIONS: 

• Must be detailed orientated and have good time management and organizational skills. 
• Basic computer knowledge and operation 
• Proven ability to work with others 
• Must be able to read sufficiently to follow instructions, ability to mix appropriate chemical dilution ratio and understand directions for use.

CERTIFICATES, LICENSES, REGISTRATIONS 

• Valid driver’s license. Must pass an MVR check and meet college fleet guidelines.

EDUCATION and/or EXPERIENCE

• High School diploma and/or equivalent preferred but not required 
• One year of custodial or janitorial experience in a commercial, industrial, hospital, governmental or similar environment; OR an equivalent combination of education and experience 
• Training on blood borne pathogens and proper procedures for clean up on hazardous/infectious materials according to OSHA specifications (see supervisor for more information) will be required after hire

PHYSICAL DEMANDS 

• Mobility: walk or stand for extended periods of time 
• Lifting: ability to lift and carry 50 pounds 
• Dexterity: must have a full range of motion including bending, stretching, lifting, and kneeling.
